chocolate cayenne pepper and cinnamon

If you’re looking for a way to (literally) spice up your coffee routine, then this Iced Mexican Mocha Cold Brew recipe is perfect for you. If you like the combination of chocolate and chili you are sure to like this drink--we certainly do! We love this recipe not only for its unique flavor profile but also because pretty much all of the ingredients are ones you probably already have in your kitchen. This recipe is for an iced drink, but you can certainly adapt this recipe to be a hot coffee.

Ingredients you'll need:

  • ¼ tsp Cayenne pepper
  • 2 tsp Chili Powder
  • 1 ½ tsp Cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • Sweeten to taste
  • 2 cups strong cold brew (guide to making cold brew)
  • Milk of choice (We recommend oat milk!)

How to make an iced Mexican Mocha:

Freshly made iced Mexican mocha sitting next to a bowl of coffee beans and a glass of milk.

  1. Mix your sugar, cocoa powder, cinnamon, chili powder, and cayenne in a bowl until well-combined
  2. Add ½ a cup of hot water into the mix and stir ingredients together until the sugar is dissolved
  3. Stir the spice/sugar/water mixture into the 2 cups of cold brew
  4. Pour the cold brew mixture over a glass of ice
  5. Top the cold brew with a dash of milk (or more, if you like your coffee milkier), and enjoy!
